Fundraising

You Can Make a
Difference

smile1 (4K) Fundraising is one of the very important work areas that any nonprofit has to undertake as it is these funds raised which support all other programs. AARDA receives no support from any governmental agency and must rely on its own fund-raising efforts to support its research, education, awarness and support programs.

We are proud to say that our management and fundraising expenses are under 10 percent of our income. We depend on volunteers to raise the funds needed. many grassroots fund-raising efforts are conducted by volunteers who have an autoimmune disease or a family member with one.

Listed to the right are curent fund-raising efforts held on behalf of AARDA. Please take a few moments to review them.

bullet EL-514 Covered Bridge Bike Tour

Hi, my name is Janet DeAustria and I'm raising funds for AARDA. The fundraiser I'm organizing is Covered Bridge Bike Tour in Williamette Valley, Oregon on September 7, 2008.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a contribution (see end of article)

INFORMATION: The ride will be fully supported with sag vehicles--though riders must be prepared to fix flats/mechanical problems on the ride. Ride leaders will also be available for support and assistance. The course follows a beautiful country setting, and offers riders several chances to hit some great swimming holes and rope swimgs. About half-way through the ride we will stop for a lunch and rest. Riders complete the course at a comfortable pace (some fast, some not). We will ride through 5-historic covered bridges, and photo opportunities are in abundance. Maps and riding directsion will be provided at registration/check-in. Maps will NOT be available in advance.

LOCATION AND START: The tour will begin at the Scio Elementary School parking lot, in Scio, Oregon. Scio is located about 1 hour south of Portland--about 12 miles off of I-5. The school is near the corner of 1st and Main.

DIRECTIONS: Take I-5 south. Take exit 242, Talbot Rd. (east). Follow signs to Jefferson. At the "T" in the road, go right on Jefferson. Once on Jefferson, go left on Main St. just before the large stone bridge. The road becomes Jefferson-Scio Rd. Follow this road to the 4-way stop (just over 8 miles). At the stop sign take a right on Main St. (a large church will be on your right) go a couple blocks to NW 1st St., go right on 1st St. and continue two blocks. The ride starts at the school parking lot.

FUN AND PRIZES: In addition to the fun, and the satisfaction you'll get from knowing you are contributing to a worthy cause, you can win prizes! More than $1000 in prizes will be raffled off. All participants and volunteers are eligible to win.

REGISTRATION: Registration fees are $20 by August 1, 2008 and $25 until September 5th. Online and mail-in registration will close at 11:00 PM on September 5, 2008. Day of event will be $30. Click here www.el541.org to register for the bike tour.

**Registration will be available the morning of the event, but lunches will NOT be guaranteed to those participants. The fee will also be increased to $30.

TO CONTRIBUTE: If you cannot participate and would like to contribute to my efforts to raise funds and meet my goal, please make a contribution of any amount by clicking "contribution" on the menu bar and select EL-541 Covered Bridge Bike Tour from the drop-down donation box.

bullet Combined Federal Campaign

CFC, or Combined Federal Campaign, is the payroll deduction plan for charity that's used by all federal government workers. Every federal employee selects from a large list the charity to which he/she wants his or her donation to go.
If you are (or if you know) a federal worker, we hope that you'll choose, or ask the worker to choose, the Autoimmune Diseases Association at pledge time this fall. Our CFC number is 10548.
