I have Hashimoto's disease. I have never had a flu shot, and I don't tend to get the flu. I have been concerned that if I get a flu shot it could trigger another autoimmune problem, rather than preventing me from getting the flu. Up until now I have just taken my chances with the flu, but now with all the concerns about H1N1 I have been more open to the idea of a flu shot. I would love to hear from other Hashimoto's patients to hear what their doctors have told them about flu shots for autoimmune patients.

I don't have hasimoto's but I do have cryoglobulinemia. Because I am on imunosuppresants (prednisone and imuran) I have a suppressed immune system and catching the flu could be a big problem for me. My rheumy strongly recommended that I get the flu shot, so I got the shot for H1N1 and have not had any problems.

I didn't have the H1N1 shot but I did have the normal flu shot with no reactions
My Hashimotos is quite the same as being Celiac with the exception of where and how it attacks the body....mine in the thyroid and shoulder joint.
You should be fine with a normal flu shot tho
