I'm a 53-year-old woman who was just recently diagnosed as having some kind of autoimmune disorder. (I had an eye inflammation, my eye doctor suggested some testing) I have seen a rheumatologist and gather that I have some very high ANA levels. While I have a variety of vague symptoms that may or may not be related (joint and tendon problems, sleep disruption, dry, itchy skin) it appears that the only clear cut symptom thus far is the eye inflammation. And I'd like to keep it that way, if at all possible. My diagnosis is technically lupus, but that is also not completely clear. I'd like to learn what I can, and do what I can to manage this, without wandering too far off the reservation on my own. I'm interested in, if a bit skeptical of, holistic approaches, and would like to find a good holistic doc willing to work in conjunction with my rheumatologist (if she is willing- I'll be discussing it with her). Have any of you tried this approach? Any advice to share? (or referrals- I live in Richmond, VA)
