    Hi,
I am new here, I have looked around a bit and found some of your comments very comforting. I have Hypothyroidism, that has not been diagnosed for over 6 years. I just started taking supplements. I too am exhausted all the time.
I too feel the guilt when stopping to rest or nap, but I cannot go on, thanks for the encouragement.
I do have problems staying asleep at night and wake up 5-7 times a night, I can't remember the last time I slept over three hours. I do not have sleep apnea. Is there any natural vitamin etc. to help. I do not need stress management or any such thing as I am retired and really do not have anything stressful in my life except this disease.
    Thank you
    Rosemarie

Did the insomnia begin before or after you started taking supplements? Some supplements can cause that.

Oh No I was suffering long before I took supplemants. In fact the supplements helped a little, but not enough.

Hi , sleep problems are the result of being hypo . so you could try seratonin which may help you but you need to be taking something for this like thyroxine or even a natural thyroid medicine called Armour thyroid. I buy mine from the internet as I could not get it from my doctor and had to go private as I live in the UK. I have autoimmune thyroiditis, rhuematoid
arthritis, autoimmune ear disease and psoriosis, contact dermatitis. I am taking thyroid-S for my hash`s,and other supplements for the arthritis and it cost a lot but what can we do there is no cure, so I do what ever it takes to stay well.

There are a number of different things that could be interfering with with your sleep. It would be a good idea to get a sleep study done - there are more things than sleep apnea that could be the source of the problem. For example, I have urge incontinence, which makes me get up in the night several times - since starting on Vesicare, I sleep much better.

My rheumatologist prescribed Trazadone. I take 150 mg at bedtime. I sleep really well now. I was awake every night for 10 years before trying Trazadone. I could fall asleep but I couldn't stay asleep. When you don't get that REM sleep, your body hurts so much more. I also take 325mg of hydrocodone to take the edge of the pain. I sleep great now. No waking up at 2 in the morning and staying awake all night anymore. I don't feel groggy in the morning. I think with Trazadone you initially start with 50mg and then if that works, great. If not, you keep increasing the amount. For me, 150 mg is just right.

You may ask your doctor about melatonin or Valerian supplements, yoga and lavender...
