Highlights from: “Self-Advocacy and Clinical Trials”
There’s so much more to clinical trials then what you hear about. Lilly Stairs joined Autoimmune Association to inform patients and dispel myths so that that you can be your best advocate in getting the care you deserve.

Highlights include:
- Clinical trials are safe. There are many policies and procedures to ensure safety and full consent of the participants.
- Non-medicinal trials. Trials are vast and wide-ranging, they include observational studies, diets, and devices.
- The placebo myth. It is rare for participants to not get treatment. In the autoimmune disease community, the treatment being tested may have already been approved but there testing the impact on another autoimmune disease.
